Our Values

Our Story

“In my community, I watched children go to bed hungry and mothers struggling to feed their families. I couldn’t stand it anymore. That’s why I founded Seed of Life, to bring hope through the soil beneath our feet.”
— Daniel Josiah, Founder

The Need

According to the World Food Programme (WFP, Feb 2024), 82% of Sierra Leone’s population is food insecure. In Kori Chiefdom, over 85% of families depend on small-scale farming with little access to modern tools, seeds, or irrigation. SoL exists to change this reality, one field, one farmer, and one school at a time.

Our Vision

To reduce hunger and poverty by empowering communities through agriculture

  • To cultivate a future where all communities thrive, nourished by healthy food, sustained by empowered livelihoods, and protected by restored natural ecosystems.

  • SoL envisions a Sierra Leone where agriculture is climate-resilient, people-centred, and a pathway to equity, prosperity, education, and innovation.

Our Mission

To empower individuals, families, and communities through education, service, and advocacy rooted in climate-smart and sustainable agriculture. We connect people to healthy food systems, preserve biodiversity, and combat environmental degradation. Through inclusive, community-led initiatives and fair market access, SoL promotes resilient livelihoods and transformative rural development.

Who We Are?

Seed of Life (SoL) is a farmer-led organisation dedicated to fighting hunger and building sustainable food systems across Sierra Leone. Founded in 2022 by Daniel Josiah, SoL began in Taiama, Kori Chiefdom, when he witnessed children and families going hungry and decided to act.

Today, SoL unites farmers, schools, women, and youth under one mission to end hunger through sustainable agriculture, education, and empowerment.
